Description
Grid reference: SW 809 326
Ecclesiastical parishes: Budock, Falmouth King Charles and Falmouth All Saints. Civil parish: Falmouth.
Large town and port, originally in the parish of Budock and now divided between the modern parishes of Falmouth King Charles and Falmouth All Saints; although Pendennis remains in the parish of Budock. Mention must be made that the "official" Cornish name for Falmouth: Aberfal, is highly misleading. The element aber has, to the best of my knowledge, never featured in any Cornish place name1; the correct element would surely be *heyl.
