Ecclesiastical parish in Devon with a small part, formerly Bridgerule West civil parish, lying west of the River Tamar. In the Archdeaconry of Barnstaple and formerly in the Archdeaconry of Totnes. Deanery of Holsworthy.
Part in the Hundred of Stratton and part in the Hundred of Black Torrington. The part in the Hundred of Stratton was transferred to Devon for parliamentary purposes in 1832 and for civil purposes in 1844. Bridgerule civil parish.
