Description

Civil parish. Hundred of Stratton to 1834. Launceston Poor Law Union, 1834-1930. Launceston Rural Sanitary District, 1875-1894. Launceston Rural District, 1894-1974. North Cornwall District, 1974-2009. Launceston Community Network, 2009-present. The parish was enlarged in 1966 by the gaining of 1 acre from the parish of Luffincott and 1 acre from the parish of Northcott, both in Devon. Northcott, originally in this parish, lies east of the River Tamar and was in the Hundred of Black Torrington. The hamlet was transferred to Devon for parliamentary purposes in 1832 and for civil purposes in 1844. Northcott became a separate civil parish in 1866.
