Modern ecclesiastical parish, created in 1849 from parts the parishes of Altarnun, Cardynham and St Neot. Archdeaconry of Cornwall until 1878 and thereafter in the Archdeaconry of Bodmin. Deanery of Trigg Major. The parish was later joined with Altarnun and now comprise the modern parish of Altarnon with Bolventor which is itself a United Benefice with the parishes of Laneast and St Clether.

Hundreds of West and Lesnewth. Altarnun, Cardinham and St Neot civil parishes.
